Amy Carlson
Amy Carlson was raised in Glen Ellyn
(Illinois) and spent most of her childhood living in Chicago. Amy resided in
GlenEllyn Illinois, right up to the time she entered junior college. Her family
also resided in the Middle East, where her parents, Bob (and Barb) taught at
the American School. Amy has three siblings, sisters Betsy and Lori and brother
Joe. Amy has traveled all over Europe with her family and independently. Both
of her parents worked as teachers, so they had the opportunity to spend their
summers together camping and exploring all across the United States. They've
camped across every state except Alaska. Amy was in Rwanda to assist in relief
efforts after the war in 1994. Amy was an accomplished actor in school
productions and was a winner of writing contests. In high school she was a
dazzling athlete who was a part of the first ever 3200-meter relay in Illinois
girls track. In college, after an accident, she returned to the theater ,
playing a variety of roles on stage, beginning with Lanford Wilson's
"Fifth of July" and directing Wallace Shawn's "Aunt Dan and
Lemon". Amy has graduated from Knox College in Galesburg (Illinois) Cum
laude and graduated with an A.A. East Asian history with a particular focus on
Theater. Following graduation, she relocated to Chicago where she studied
Improv at The Improv Olympics as well as acting at The Actor's Center. After
graduation, she took a contract job as an actress on the defunct soap drama
Another World (1964). The actress has been nominated for a Daytime Emmy Award
in the category of "Outstanding Supporting Actress in an Daytime Drama
Series". Her most memorable roles are those played by women of strength,
such as Alex Taylor in Third Watch (1999), Maggie Pistone ((2000)), Katie Owen
and Tom Berenger in Peacemakers(2003) and Linda Reagan in Blue Bloods(2003).
Carlson currently lives in New York City together with Syd Butler (bassist of
Les Savy Fav), and is the owner of Frenchkiss Records. Amy continues to write
as well as explore diverse and original jobs in the film industry.
