Rita Ora Bio

Rita Ora, a British singer-songwriter. She was born Rita Sahatciu Ora in 1990 in Pristina, Kosovo, to Vera (Bajraktari) and Besnik Sahatciu. She is a granddaughter of director Besim Sahatciu. When she was just one, her family made the decision to move to the United Kingdom. Her home was West London. She attended St Cuthbert with St Matthias CE Primary School, Earls Court. After that she graduated from Sylvia Young Theatre School followed by St Charles Catholic Sixth Form College. She began singing at a young age. In 2004, she appeared in the British film Spivs. She was invited to audition for Eurovision: Your Country Needs You the British contestant for the 2009 Eurovision Song Contest. However she walked out of the competition after only a few episodes because she didn't feel like she was ready. In 2007, Ora got her first music release when she appeared on the track by Craig David entitled "Awkward" and later in 2008 with "Where's Your Love" with Tinchy Stryder. she is also featured in the video. Ora began singing in bars all over London. Roc Nation was informed by an A&R representative about Ora in 2009, a couple of days after Ora was on her way to New York and met Jay-Z. Ora was in Jay-Z's 2009 video for "Young Forever" as well as "Over" from Drake. Ora caught the attention of Jay-Z and he was able to sign her to Roc Nation, in which she was featured in the commercial for Roc Nation + Skullcandy Aviator Headphones. Her father Besnik was the owner of a pub, and she started her career as a singer from the same pub. Gwen Stefani was her major influence. Her father was a bar manager and she started her singing performances from the same bar. Kate Moss and Ed Sheeran are friends.
